Computers, Wireless, Copying/Printing, and Faxing

There are 10 computers on the library's second level which provide access to the Internet, specialized databases, and some commonly used programs including Adobe Acrobat as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

The computers have time limits of 30 minutes and 1 hour. While you cannot save files to the computer's desktop, uploading and downloading to USB flash drives may be done on the computers.

The Children's Room has 8 computers. These computers are reserved for children and their families.

Wireless access for your laptop computer or smartphone are available throughout the library. To connect to our wireless network, you will need any standard Network Interface Card installed on your laptop. You should be able to connect right away to "Maynard Public Library." From the wireless, you will not be able to print to our computers. You will need to use one of the library's PCs to do that.

Copies of documents, texts, etc. can be made at the Reference Desk. The cost is $.10/page for Black and White pages, $.25/page for Color. Additionally, you will be able print pages from your computer terminal and have them sent to the Reference Desk printers. If you need assistance in copying or printing, a Reference librarian will be happy to help.

The Reference Department offers fax service for $1 per page. This is a "send only" service. A librarian will assist you in sending your fax. The fax machine is located directly behind the Reference Desk on the second level. The library does provide cover sheets for faxing.

Computer Training
The Reference Department provides training as needed and is always happy to consider suggestions. Currently we set aside every Tuesday evening from 7:30-8:30 P.M. for drop-in training, where we can work uninterrupted with patrons wishing to explore the internet, learn to search for articles, find books both within and beyond the Minuteman Library Network, and try our various other online databases. We will make every effort to schedule training at a different time for those who cannot come at the regularly scheduled time.
