Museum passes are available to anyone who holds a library card for the Minuteman Library Network. Passes should be reserved in advance at the Circulation Desk or by calling 978-897-1010.
Museum passes are provided by a generous $4,000 annual grant from the Friends of the Maynard Public Library.
Book Mill Titles Released for 2013-2014
The Book Mill Discussion Group has released their schedule for the upcoming year. The group meets at the library on Tuesday nights at 7pm unless otherwise noted.

This spring the Friends of the Maynard Public Library will celebrate the movies with a series of recent favorites. Screenings will take place at 6:30 pm, and are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
The series opens on Thursday March 27 in the Trustees
Room of the library with The Book Thief, based on the
international best seller by Markus Zusak. New York Times critic Janet Maslin
noted of the novel, “It will be widely read and admired because it tells a
story in which books become treasures.” A German-American production released
in November 2013, this film reveals the story of Liesel, a young girl who lives
with foster parents in Germany during World War II. It features Geoffrey Rush, Emily Watson, and
Sophie Nelisse, as the young book thief.
The film also highlights an Oscar-nominated score by John Williams.

Simply deposit the item(s) you think are "awesome" into the box rather than returning them in the normal spot. The item will then be checked in and also scanned to the "Awesome" page, which can be found here:
Patrons can then visit the page and see what others have found notably enlightening, mind-blowing, or helpful recently. There is also a "most awesome" section, which shows the items that were most thought to be awesome. When you click on the media's icon, it takes you to the item's listing on the Minuteman Library Network catalog, so that you can read more about the item and its availability or place it on hold.
New Database! Download Music for free!!!
Freegal Music is a downloadable music service that offers access to about 3 million songs from over 10,000 labels with music that originates in over 60 countries. There is no software to download, and there are no digital rights management (DRM) restrictions. All you need is your library card number!
You can search by keyword, artist, or album or use the advanced search page. You can also browse artists A to Z, see genre lists in dozens of categories, and listen to sample clips before you download.
Maynard residents are entitled to download three free tracks per
week. Downloads are all in the MP3 format and will work with any MP3
player, including iPod, and can be loaded into iTunes. There are also
mobile apps available for iOS and Android devices. Check it out!

Author Event with Dina Keratsis
Tuesday, May 13th @ 7pm
Dina Keratsis on Tuesday, May 13th at 7pm. Keratsis is the author of three e-books, including Cake, A Fairy Tale, which is her latest book and the first available in print.
Cake is an engaging mix of fantasy, fairy tale, and romance, told with a dash of humor. It has been awarded 4 out of 5 stars on GoodReads and 4.7 stars on Amazon. Keratsis will read from the book and discuss her writing process and inspirations. All are welcome and cake will of course be served!
