After graduation I went to hair dressing school in Boston, and worked in that field for four years. I married in 1964, and had three children: Allison, Victoria, and Christopher. When the kids were all in school I went back to work full-time, as an export documentation specialist at Data Terminal Systems/National semiconductor. I was there for 10 years, until the company moved its operations to Hong Kong. After that, I got a job with Horn Packaging in Ayer (on my very first interview) as a customer service/sales representative. I was there for 20 years, when the company down-sized and I retired. After taking some time off, I decided to get the job I always wanted when I retired. I now have a part-time job driving a special needs school van. I love to drive so it is the perfect job for me. I hope to do it for many years.

I divorced (amicably) in 1983. The kids are all grown up, but we are still quite close. Chris is a painting contractor, and he and his son Patrick live with me. Victoria is an interior designer and lives nearby. Recently, Allison got a job with Microsoft, after working locally in the technology industry for many years, and relocated to Seattle, along with her two dogs and cat.

I have found that I love to travel, but needed to wait until the kids were grown before doing much of it! While at DTS/NSC the company gave all its employees an all-expense paid trip for two to Bermuda, which was lovely. For my 50th birthday, my children sent me on a cruise to Alaska with my cousin Linda, via San Francisco, Vancouver, Victoria, Sitka, Juneau and Glacier Bay. I loved it. On my 60th birthday, the kids again sent me on a cruise, this time accompanied by my daughter Allison, to the Baltic Sea, via England, Berlin, St. Petersburg, Helsinki, Stockholm and Copenhagen. (I do like the colder climates). It was a marvelous trip and I really enjoyed it. I have made several trips to Seattle recently, to visit (and pet sit) for Allison while she traveled, and we have made many day trips and small excursions in the Pacific Northwest. Seattle is beautiful, with lovely weather in the summer time. (NO humidity!) I just wish it weren’t so far away. My next trip will be to Finland (home of my ancestors), which I hope to do in the next few years.

Currently, I am still living in Maynard, in the house my grandparents bought in 1921. In 2008 we did a total gut renovation and expansion of the house. Chris was in charge of everything, and it was finished in only 5 months. It came out beautifully, and I am looking forward to continue decorating it and entertaining family and friends.
