Mayer files for Re-Election to County Board

On November 25, 2013 Allen Mayer filed his nominating petitions to be the Democratic candidate for Peoria County Board Member from District 6.

Allen Mayer and other candidates line up to file petitions at the County Clerk's office.

“We’ve held the line on the County’s property tax rate, maintained an excellent bond rating, and balanced our budgets,” said Mayer. “While the Peoria area continues to feel the effects of the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, Peoria County government has continued to improve.”

Mayer pointed with pride to the successful opening of the County’s new Heddington Oaks nursing home.  “We’ve carried out the mandate given to us by the voters when they overwhelmingly passed the referendum supporting a county nursing home,” said Mayer. “We have a moral obligation to provide for our seniors who can no longer care for themselves.”

WCBU-FM and the Journal Star covered Allen's announcement that he would seek another term. Allen's GOP opponent, Zachary Oyler, also filed his petitions at the County Clerk's office. Both candidates are unopposed in the March 18, 2014 primary election and will face each other in the November 4, 2014 general election.
