Mauro Boffa - PhD in Economics
Hi
I am an economist specializing in international trade, with a robust foundation in quantitative analysis and economic modeling. Over the past decade, I have conducted academic research and contributed to policy development, working both independently and as part of collaborative research teams. My areas of expertise include trade policy, trade costs, global value chains, international e-commerce, and exchange rate dynamics.Â
About Me
I am currently serving as an Advisor for the International Movement of Goods Division at the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). Feel free to reach out if you'd like to receive the latest versions of my working papers, discuss my CV, delve into research topics, or simply share what you're working on.
My professional portfolio includes preparing the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) Monitor, analyzing processed agricultural products within FTAs, and overseeing Swiss branding initiatives. In addition, I represent Switzerland as a negotiator in the FTAs of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).
Before joining SECO, I worked as an economist with the Executive Office of the Universal Postal Union. Earlier in my career, I had the privilege of conducting trade policy-oriented research for major global institutions, including the World Bank, the World Trade Organization (WTO), and the International Trade Centre (ITC).
Outside of my professional work, I am a passionate chess enthusiast and hold the title of USCF Chess Master. I also have a deep love for music and enjoy performing as a session bass player.
