I am a Post-doctoral fellow in Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS) A*STAR, working at MTMS lab, where I research machine learning methods for nanopore signal analysis and genomics data. Initially I developed an AI method to enable direct sequencing of synthetic DNA containing Non-Canonical Bases (a.k.a. Unnatural Bases). My latest projects consist of RNA secondary structure probing, and detection of NCBs on phages.
I obtained my PhD in 2021 from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), in Singapore, under supervision of Prof. Alex Kot, working at Rapid-Rich Object Search (ROSE) Lab. Where I explored RGB-D data (pose/skeleton information) for Human Interaction Recognition in videos.
Previously, from 2014 to 2016, I was a master's student at University of Campinas (UNICAMP), worked at REasoning for COmplex Data (RECOD) lab, under the supervision of Anderson de Rezende Rocha. Explored Deep Learning approaches, more specifically Deep Convolutional Neural Networks, along with motion information, such as Optical Flow and MPEG Motion Vectors, for solving the pornography detection problem. During my masters I worked with a specialized group in a project, funded by Samsung, for sensitive media analysis (i.e. filtering violent or pornographic videos). In 2014 our group achieved 2nd place in Violent Scenes Detection: Generalisation Task of MediaEval multimedia benchmarking (see Publications section for more details).
