5. Loop Fun

Matt's first DVD product is called Loop Fun. After playing and posting some loops on YouTube, the idea arose to base a number of video lessons on playing loops, that is, playing the backing, and soloing over them. Matt explains on video how to play the loops, what the chords are, what scales to use for soloing etc., and demonstrating all of this. The lessons are presented in a very informal way, with Matt just talking about how he plays his stuff, how he comes up with ideas etc. There are also 20 animated fretboard videos showing both easy and advanced solos in detail. It can be played on Windows PC and Mac**.

The DVD contains 10 original loops; different jazz styles are covered: mainstream, bossa, comtemporary, ballad, funky, waltz...
All of this is available on DVD-ROM (that is a computer DVD, not for DVD player), that you can browse just like web pages. Open the index page, click on a lesson, watch the video, play a backing loop, or watch a fretboard video. The backing loops are also provided separately in mp3 format, in case you want to load them in a looping device, or whatever other player you want. This is a great and fun way to play, and learn jazz guitar.

** for Mac you need to have Flip4Mac installed, or the VLC web plugin; there are both free.
See the support pages for more info.

These lessons are an ideal way to learn about soloing, playing backing, chords and scales, cool licks, phrasing, all in a down-to-earth and enjoyable way.

When you start the DVD on your computer, you start with the index screen below. There you select the video lesson you want to watch. In the video page, you can watch the video lesson or choose to go the fretboard videos, or to go to an mp3 loop player page. Navigating over the DVD is literally as easy as browsing a web site; it's a web site on DVD!.
