The Righteous Mind

The Righteous Mind: Why Good People are Divided by Politics and Religion
I just finished this book. Really great! The author, moral psychologist Jonathan Haidt's basic premise is to revive the notion of "group selection": evidence of evolutionary selection towards groupish behavior (teams, tribes, religion, nations, political parties, etc.), and that the moral foundations of society are tied up in our groupishness - i.e., moral communities. His own research conducted through helped him to understand morality across multiple divides. In conclusion he offers a way to engage with others with whom one may or may not share similar moral matrices. This is an important book, and I hope you will read it.
