I am a senior in the Marine Biology Research Program at the Urban Assembly New York Harbor School. In the past few months, I have been focusing my attention on microfibers, microscopic fibers that release from our clothing every time we wash our clothes, and looking at their affect on our waterways. I want to try to take these microfibers, essentially lint from dryers, and see if I could potentially recycle them to make another fabric. Currently, I am a data analyst for the Harbor SEALS, a citizen scientist program. Over the past two years, I have gained skills in leadership, research, data analysis, and project management. Additionally, I have experience in paid internships and volunteer work. I am a summer 2016 Island School alumni. I hold a PADI Open Water Scuba Diving License. In the fall of 2018, I will be attending Tufts University to study pre-med, as it is a growing interest of mine. Perhaps I could combine my sustainability interest with medicine.
