Matteo Fumagalli

I am a Research Associate at the Department of Genetics, Evolution & Environment, University College London, UK, advised by Francois Balloux, funded by a HFSP fellowship. I am also affiliated with the UCL Genetics Institute (UGI) and the Human Evolution centre at UCL (HE@UCL). Previously, I was a postdoc in the Department of Integrative Biology, UC Berkeley, working with Rasmus Nielsen as an EMBO fellow. I completed my PhD in Bioengineering at Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy, under the joint supervision of Manuela Sironi and Linda Pattini.

I grew up in a small village near the city of Lecco, in Northern Italy. I currently live in London, UK, with my wife and two daughters.

My current research interests involve detecting and characterising selection in natural populations and developing computational methods for the analysis of large-scale sequencing data.

For more details see my research section, list of publications, or my CV attached below.
