Originally GFFR set up by Sam Hermitage to provide short range broadcast on FM. Expanding an idea for using intermediate technology to connect communities with music and discussion on topical issues. For legal reasons, the FM signal strength meant it was confined to the immediate Kingston area except when Glastonbury festival was on when it would go to Pilton for a month and provide an extra layer of self reliance for the green futures field and the community onsite there. Guest speakers and ad hoc reportage from the event filled in between performances on the various stages many were tirelessly recorded by dedicated engineer J.Moore.
With the advent of internet radio, it has grown to be known all over the globe and attracts listeners through it's 'tune-in' channel and uses Facebook for social media and group chat.
