Having difficulty with your math courses?

Need help studying for the mathematics portion of  SAT, ACT, FTCE, ASTB, OAR, PCAT, CLEP, PERT, TABE, HESI or other standardized tests?

I have 32 years of experience teaching mathematics courses at various colleges and universities in the US. I have a Masters degree and a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Applied Mathematics from Florida State University and have taught each of the courses algebra, pre-calculus, trigonometry, calculus 1, 2, 3 at least 30 times during my teaching career and have tutored many local high school and college students in the past. I believe that I have good ability to put difficult and challenging concepts into easy to understand language.

I provide private one-on-one tutoring for high school and college courses in the subjects listed above, as well as geometry, finite mathematics, statistics, AP calculus AB/BC and differential equations. I also provide private one-on-one tutoring for FLVS students or home-schooled students in any of the courses listed above. I  held the position of  "professional mathematics tutor" at Jacksonville University for several years.  I currently teach mathematics at Jacksonville University. I taught the courses Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Pre-calculus, Calculus 1 and 2 and Differential Equations during the past several years.

I normally meet students at one of the two public libraries, Pablo Creek Public Library (13295 Beach Blvd.) or Southeast Branch Public Library (10599 Deerwood Park Blvd.).  I can also meet UNF students at the campus library.  The tutoring is conducted in a light mannered, friendly and informal atmosphere in which I frequently ask the student if he/she follows each step in solving a problem, and the student is encouraged to speak and stop me during any part of solving a problem if he/she has questions or does not follow a solution step.  Below are a few sample PDF files of actual tutoring sessions with various students:

I charge $60 per hour of tutoring most courses and honestly my first hour of tutoring is free if you don't feel that you have been sufficiently helped by my tutoring. I am patient and will make certain that you have a good understanding of the concepts and the steps involved in solving mathematics problems. I can share my university degrees and official students' evaluation of my teaching ability with you, if needed. Other professional references are available upon request. Please call  904-515-2026  and please leave a message if I am not present to answer your call.

I generally conduct one-on-one private mathematics tutoring in the library but I also offer online tutoring via Skype (I will provide the student a well-organized PDF file of the problems solved during the Skype session).  For more information about the tutoring please call or text 904-515-2026

Online Skype Tutoring    In addition to "in-person" tutoring, I offer one-on-one online tutoring via Skype using a note-writing software (or an interactive whiteboard) that lets you see my writings and hear my voice in real time. At the end of the session, I will forward you a PDF file of the notes and problems solved during the tutoring session.  For sample PDF files of actual tutoring sessions, click on the links provided above.
