Course Schedule and Textbook
The course will be principally concerned with developing the Lebesgue measure and integration theory.

Textbook: Wheeden, R. L. and Zygmund, A., Measure and Integral: An Introduction to Real Analysis, Second Edition.
Another recommended book is Stein, E.M. and Shakarchi, R., Real Analysis: Measure Theory, Integration, and Hilbert Spaces (Princeton Lectures in Analysis) (Vol. 3).

The course might deviate from the textbook at some places.



Course Policies
Homework is assigned weekly and is due 11AM Thursday in the dropbox in Downs. You are not allowed to look up solutions to the problems from any source until after the due date has passed for the homework in question. Late homework is not accepted. The homework assignments comprise 30% of your final grade. Each problem set is worth the same, but the homework with the lowest score will not count in the determination of the final grade.
You are encouraged to discuss homework problems in small groups, however each student must hand in the solutions written up in their own words.

There will be two exams, a midterm and a final. The respective dates will be announced. Both exams will be timed, non-collaborative exams. They will be open book and you may use class notes, the textbook and any material posted on the course webpage, but you may not use other resources on the internet. The midterm makes up 30% and the final exam 40% of your final grade.
