This is my last message to you as Mason District Council Chair. This has been an important two years in reestablishing the District Council . We have had interesting programs, passed a resolution on land use, held a candidates’ night, launched a community clean-up and (most importantly) added members. Those who have attended our meetings are better informed about the issues that face Mason District and I hope are motivated to become involved in forming solutions.
This Thursday, May 3rd, we will be electing a new Board for the 2012/13 year. I hope your association will be represented and cast a vote. Mollie Loeffler has agreed to lead the slate of candidates and serve as Chair next year. She is immediate past Fairfax County Citizen of the Year, president of Parklawn Citizens’ Association and has spearheaded several important projects; most notably, our effort to raise awareness of litter and remove debris in Mason District. I expect next year to be another successful year with continued growth and greater visibility for Mason District Council.
We are still looking for a co-vice chair and a secretary for next year. Remember, you need not be your association’s voting representative to serve on the Board. You need only be a member of your HOA or association and your association needs to be a member in good standing of the MDC, in order to serve.
Join! Become involved! It’s your community.
Roger Hoskin, Chair
Mason District Council
