Information for Participants

Race Director, Brett Saxon from trailsplus, on behalf of Race Patron Dr Lachlan Fraser welcomes you to the 5th annual RACV Marysville Marathon Festival. Thank you for showing your support for our community recovery.

We have a great day planned for you. In addition to the Marathon, Ultra Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, and 4K, there will be live entertainment on stage until the early afternoon by local group "Hot Pans", food, market stalls and a great group of volunteers who will look after you on the course, and in the finish area.

The committee would like to acknowledge the support of all our sponsors, in particular, the RACV who have embraced the spirit of the event, and provided their assistance in staging the event. Thank you also to the committee for all their hard work and support.

Please read the following information to ensure your safety and enjoyment.

This year the Event is on SUNDAY November the 17th.

Race Pack Collection

Your race pack, which includes your race bib,  and merchandise can be collected at the following times:

Saturday 16th November – 12.00 to 4.00pm at Gallipoli Park, in the New Community Centre.

Sunday 17th November – from 6.15am at Gallipoli Park. Enter from Murchison Street.

There will be no mail outs of race numbers or tee shirts before the event.

Change of Event

You can change events on the morning but you must collect a new race number for the event you are moving too.

There may be an admin fee Max $10 and or the difference in fee if upgrading events.

Race Bibs & Timing

This year we are trialling a new timing system, It is extremely important that your race number is worn clearly on the front of your chest, if it is on the side of your shorts or your back and not visible to timing officials you may not receive a finish time. To ensure this works well and you receive an accurate time, we will have a chute system setup for you to cross the finish line, you will be required to enter the chute matching the event distance you are running. Once you cross the finish line we will have an area setup for runner refreshment, we ask that runners don't congest the finish line area.
Electronic Chip Timing forms part of this years event and we are hoping to provide live updates and instant results to a live website

Race Starts

Ultra Marathon            7.00 am at Gallipoli Park

Marathon                       8.00 am at Gallipoli Park

Half Marathon                9.00 am at Gallipoli Park

10K Run/Walk                10.00 am at Gallipoli Park

4K Run/Walk                    11.00 am at Gallipoli Park


Please be at registration area in plenty of time to collect race pack and make the race briefing 15 minutes prior to the event

This should be at least 30 minutes if not 45 minutes to help make for a relaxed starting environment.


Long Course Cut Off Times

A total 7hr cutoff, which effectively will be applied as you come back through the oval at the 40km point before heading off to Stevenson Falls for the final 10km of the Ultra 50km will be applied
So what this means is, if you can't cover the first 40km in 5 1/2 hrs, you will be cut from the event at the Oval.
This same time cutoff will apply to the Marathon runners who will need to be back to the oval at the 32.2km point before heading out to Steavenson Falls for the last 10km.

Anyone with any concerns about these times should contact the race director
An early start option may be considered depending circumstances, early start options are only for slow runners/walkers, they are not to allow runners to start early to get cooler conditions. Early starters can not place in the awards

Parking

The SES and Volunteers will manage parking. Please follow signs and directions. A gold coin donation would be appreciated to support the essential work of the SES. Please note: There is no parking at Gallipoli Park or on Falls Road due to construction work at the oval.

Course Specifics (Course subject to minor changes at time of print)

Please note the following is a guide only as we are finalising the courses.


The Ultra Marathon follows the same course as the marathon. Except on the way back down Lady Talbot Drive the ultra runners will turn left up Cameron's Cascade, its steep climb for 1km, the Marathon runners will continue down Lady Talbot drive retracing their steps back to Gallipoli Park

The Half Marathon  takes the  1st turnaround on Lady Talbot Drive, which is about 500M along Lady Talbot after you exit Dickinsons track.

The Marathon will continue to Keppel falls and the beeches then retrace their steps to Gallipoli park

The 10K follows  Falls Road to to Steavenson Falls – the marathon, ultra, and half marathon also go all the way to the Falls then on the return follow the river trail , then briefly onto Yellow Dog Rd before returning to finish along the river trail.

The 4K turns on to Yellow Dog Road and then immediately on to the river trail and return to the finish line.

Please follow the marshal’s directions.

Results

Results will be published on the website hopefully live, but failing that will be up by 11pm on the night of the race.

Photographs

Photos will be published as soon as practicle after the event, photos are by volunteers of whom we are extremely grateful.
If by chance our volunteer photographers are not available on the day, there may be a small fee to cover the cost of photos as a contingency plan to ensure your memories are captured
 
Medical

First Aid will be available at various aid stations and at the start finish area.

Please make sure that you bring your own gels, sunscreen, Vaseline, band-aids and other personal requirements.

Drink Stations

There are 16 drink stations opportunities on the ultra & 15 for the marathon course, 8 on the half marathon course and 4 on the 10K course. There are 2 available on the 4km course.

Hammer Nutrition Sports drinks are available on the ultra marathon, marathon and half marathon courses at various locations.

Marathon runners may leave their own drinks at race packet pick up on Saturday or prior to 6.30am on Sunday. They must be clearly marked and will be at the approach end of the drinks table at 20K & 33K.

Massage Recovery area

With a massive thanks to Runners Kitchen and Optimus Health we will have healthy recovery food, nutritional advice and plenty of massage therapists to give you a 5 minute soothing rub down

Clothing Bags

These are available on the oval. If you would like to avoid using plastic bags, bring you own labeled back-pack. It will be easy for you to identify and help save the planet.

Presentations

The main presentation will be held on stage at approximately 12:00pm. Presentations will be made to the first three finishers in each event. There are fantastic Handcrafted trophies for winners and place-getters.

Food & Stalls
 

We have plenty of food at the oval, and local shops and a great local bakery with food to suit any taste, or bring you own picnic. There are lots of tables and chairs for you comfort.

Kids Activities

As of the final week leading to the race we do not have confirmation of the Kids activities, these may not happen but we are still trying to get a commitment.

Recovery Swim

The River will be available for a cool dip and recovery soak
 
Merchandise

If you ordered merchandise you can collect it after registration. Feel free to swap your size if it is not suitable. If you haven’t purchased a t-shirt yet, you will be able to do that on the day. We also have some running singlets and mugs as a souvenir of your participation for purchase.


Cancellation of Event

The event organisors wish to advise that in the event of code red or high fire danger the event will be cancelled.

In keeping with permit requirements if it is a high wind day we may have to alter the course, unfortunately the nature of much of the course could come under the high wind ruling therefore our only option will be to run a lap course using the 10km course, for the longer events or the event will be cancelled, safety is above all else.

This call will not be made until the day of or day before the event
