Howard County Lyme Awareness Group
MAY IS LYME DISEASE AWARENESS MONTH!
Our goal for Howard County Lyme Awareness is to educate and bring this disease and it's symptomology to light for the general public and health care professionals. We will do all we can to support those suffering from the disease.
At the meetings we will share prevention information to help protect others from getting tick borne diseases in the future. We hope you will join us so we can band together and make a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families in Howard County.
Our support group meets at the Howard County Central Library.

Spring is here and with it comes concerns about being bitten by disease-transmitting ticks. Information on Lyme disease symptoms, ticks and their habitats, tick repellents, protective outdoor-clothing (and what type of clothing sprays can protect you through 6 washings), and suggestions on modifications to home landscapes to reduce tick encounters will be presented through PowerPoint slides.
At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to: *Recognize symptoms *Avoid tick habitats *Use tick repellents and tick-protective clothing effectively *Modify their home landscape to reduce tick populations *Lessen their anxiety about the outdoors and tick bites and *Protect their pets.
**Prevention is extremely important even if you are already infected as each new bite comes with a risk of infection with more aggressive strains and new pathogens. Protect yourself, your family, and your pets!
