CASTING CALL GOES OUT ACROSS THE NORTH FOR IMPACT’S NEW FILM PREMIERE
BUDDING actors from across the North of England are being sought for an exciting new venture by a dynamic Yorkshire video production and marketing company.
Impact Films Ltd, one of the North’s burgeoning high quality video and film production companies, is issuing an urgent casting call for its first major entertainment feature film.
Impact has already established itself within the corporate and legal sector in the North of England as a producer of quality films tailored to suit the business market.
And while executive producer Simon Gamble says corporate filming will remain a main strand of the business, the company is set to start shooting its first entertainment ‘short’ film this spring and summer.
The plan is to enter the ‘short’ film - entitled “Essential Travel”, into a series of film festivals across the UK in the hope of winning plaudits and awards - but not before key cast members are recruited over the coming days.
Scripted by Manchester’s Paul Bridges, the short film is a serious, ‘kitchen sink drama’ style piece set in the N of England and examines the effect and impact cancer has on the lives of a young woman and her family, with a focus also on characters in the North of England and New Zealand.
“People know Impact for our corporate promotion work especially with solicitors and other corporate sectors.
“But as the Spring approaches, as a tangent, we decided to experiment with a short form entertainment focussed piece, with the hope of entering it into various film festivals. It promises to be an exciting new field.
“We are currently looking to cast for a couple of main antagonists and other key characters – one of the main ones being the lead character of ‘Emma’.
“Impact are known throughout the N of England, not only here in our base in Sheffield but also in Manchester, Leeds and elsewhere in the North.
“We are used to using the latest technology and will be shooting the short on video using the latest 4K technology – which is about twice the quality of regular HD systems.
“We’ve always felt the arts are perhaps a little underrepresented in the N of England and are delighted to be taking our first step in the field.
“Given our emerging pedigree in the corporate world, where we have come to be known for our precision approach to filming and editing, we are hoping to apply this same ethos to the new film, - but with a definite creative touch.
“It is also a chance for young actors perhaps to make their break in a new production and to further spotlight talent in the N of England and to showcase the N, and to the world.
“I can’t give too much away about the plot but it is an engaging piece relevant to today’s modern world.”
The film will be shot with a view to a cinematic release and possible distribution as a web movie.
