This website was started while I was the Educational Specialist at the Center for Independent Living in Central Florida. I have a MA in Deaf Education (Gallaudet University, 2005), and I worked mainly with adults who are deaf or hearing-impaired. I also visited some local schools to teach deaf students about issues related to Deafness, Deaf Culture, and especially transition skills to help them succeed after high school.

The Center for Independent Living in Central Florida mainly serves individuals with disabilities in Seminole, Orange, and Osceola counties. They are located in Winter Park and also have an office in Lakeland; see the website for the exact address.

I retired on 4/30/19 but this website will remain available because of the importance of the classes on citizenship and driver education. I still do tax work via the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA). Tax prep is FREE to deaf consumers of Center for Independent Living in Central Florida. Call CIL at 407-623-1070 for information on free tax assistance for Deaf. MUST be deaf and use ASL.
