Mid-Atlantic Research and Services, Inc. was founded in 1990 by MJ Ward, after his completion of service at the IBM Corporation as Senior Systems Engineer. Superior service has been the company's primary goal and the reason for its success over a period of greater than twenty-two years. The company has been a repeat supplier to hundreds of USA companies and government agencies, as well as select international companies.
Mid-Atlantic was staffed by a talented group of senior level technical professionals with experience in mainframe computing and networking. Mid-Atlantic's early work was to provide consultative and field engineering support to systems integration firms serving the US military. The company grew rapidly, providing mainframe hardware and software services to end-users and technology companies in the eastern USA.
By 1992 Mid-Atlantic served large data centers throughout the USA. Mid-Atlantic became the second of only two companies authorized as an IBM Business Partner for distribution and service of IBM 3745/3746 Communications Controllers and related products. The company continued in that capacity until the product set was withdrawn from marketing by IBM in 2002. In 2004 Mid-Atlantic purchased the IBM plant inventory and constructed a dedicated remanufacturing facility in the USA to provide effective support to the thousands of continuing users. Mid-Atlantic's staff were privileged to have been able to provide critical customer support following the 2001 enemy attacks on New York City and the Pentagon, and later following Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and other natural calamities
Mid-Atlantic's electronic waste (e-waste) service offerings began in 1994, when users of IBM water-cooled mainframe processors began to switch to air-cooled mainframe equipment and later, to server technology. With an increasing demand for turnkey de-installation, removal and disposal service, Mid-Atlantic developed policies and best-practices that continued to evolve to serve the needs of its customers and to fulfill civic responsibility.
The founders and staff of Mid-Atlantic are pleased that EIS Americas, LLC has acquired and integrated Mid-Atlantic's unique capabilities and services, effective June 2012.
