 Mark Thomas Rhodes

 He was originally  going  to be given Antony as his second name but it sounded   too much like the Roman Chappie!

GNVQ in Leisure & Tourism, which is equivalent to 2 A-Levels.  He wanted to be an air steward and worked as an holiday rep.


Mark used to work in Telesales in a Walsall Steel Supplier but of course quit his job in September 2003 when he auditioned for Pop Idol.


Seeing his family in Wolverhampton, his beloved Wolves FC, singing (which is why he entered Pop Idol), playing sports and going out with his mates and getting wrecked.



Steve Bull, Freddie Mercury as an entertainer, Richard Marx for his voice and Robbie Williams for his attitude.

First Song Written:

Mark was in a band called Clifton, (which is the name of a Bingo hall up his way) and  they wrote their own songs.  One of this was called 'Take Me', which was about drugs, something which Mark and his friends couldn't see the point in.  They had another song called 'Superstar', and the chorus went 'I'm a superstar/drive a flash car/and it's all right'.

Some random facts:

1.    Mark once read the news on ITV when he was 10.

2.    He did Pop Idol for his nephew who has spinal muscular dystrophy.

3.    The rock band he was in won Battle Of The Bands in the Midlands and he also met the   drummer of Slade.
