Parent Update: Week Ending 6/15/2018

School is winding down. And students are extremely busy. With Quarterlies and exciting fundraising events like Relay for Life, the year will be over in a blink of an eye.


6th and 7th grade students came to the library to hear about summer reading from a Librarian from Brooklyn Public Library. Students also heard about the Marine Park Summer Reading Initiative. Look out for the packets which will be coming the last week of school. In the meanwhile, you can see the page I’m currently updating This will be linked to both the library's and school's website. 

Students are asked to clear their book accounts before the last week of school. 

Ms. Zhan: 

This week, the 8th Grade Science Class will be learning about the environmental, socioeconomic impact of the increasing population on Earth through the documentary, "People Paradox."  

We will also be preparing for the Science Quarterly this week.

Mr. Devito: 

My 6th graders are studying The Emperors of Rome.

My 7th graders are studying the Emancipation Proclamation and fighting during the Civil War. 

Ms. Gaskowitz: 

This week 6-6, 6-7, and 6-8 are reading chapters 10-11 of Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry

Ms. Cucos: 

Class 7-17 worked on pre-algebra skills, learned the causes of WWII and reviewed for quarterlies. 

Ms. Duro: 

Classes 6-4. 6-5, and 6-6, will be learning about Box Plots this week. They will have a test on said topic and MAD on Friday, June 8th.  

Ms. Hanley:

Students in 6-11, 6-14 and 6-15 are finishing their novel and working on analyzing the themes present throughout the novel. 

Ms. Maslow:

Students finished the unit on Living Structures and reviewed for the Science Quarterly, which will be administered on June 12th.
