Cal-MOAA Legislative Update

July 24, 2013

The State Assembly is currently on Summer Recess until August 5, while the State Senate is on Summer Recess until August 12.  After the 12th, the pace will really pick up and bills will “fly or die” in the short time remaining in this legislative session. 

 Of the 100 plus military and veterans related bills that were introduced this legislative year, 57 bills are still alive and will be voted on between August 4th and September 13th when the Legislature adjourns for the year.

 The legislative deadlines are:

 Aug. 30 - Last day for fiscal committees to hear bills.

Sept. 3 to Sept. 13 - Floor Sessions only.

Sept. 13 - Last day for each house to pass bills.  Legislature then adjourns for 2013. .

Oct. 13 - Last day for Governor to sign or veto bills passed by the Legislature
