Welcome to Warboys Chess Club

Are you tired of playing on-line or against a computer?
Are you new to the area?
Are you Magnus Carlsen and want to play for us on board 1? (We'll drop Vishy down to 2.)
If so come and have some real-time, one to one, live games.
Our members come from the Huntingdon, St.Ives and Ramsey area and will be happy to play you in either friendly, or not so friendly competition.
We participate in both leagues of the Cambridgeshire Chess Association, and several of our members are also long standing County players.

29th October: WhiteCapes draw with Godmanchester
Bernard wins, Peter B and Mike O draw.
Congratulations to John Wright for beating Richard (even if a little fortunately.) His seasons grade of 213, from one game is if not the highest in the league, certainly the greatest increase.

27th October: A team beat St.Neots 3-2
Richard and Marcus get the full point. Carl 'donated' his to Ray Gomplemann.
Big match next Monday away to Royston. 'Special' guest invited.

23rd October: Warboys B beat Buckden 2.5 - 1.5
Carl and Neil win. Miles plays first game this season and draws.
Neil on 3.5 / 4. It helps if you play on board 2 for both the B and C team.
He became a grandfather for the fourth time as well.

16th October: Great week for Warboys
12 games 4 draws 2 points.
Well done (I suppose) to Peter B. for two draws, Bernard and Carl.
If you want to join a chess club, contact me and I'll suggest one for you. Royston or Spalding come to mind.

11th October: Warboys C win away - to Warboys B
With wins from Peter B. and Dave B.
Next week's matches:
Mon 13th D-Max away to Royston
Tue 14th War B away to Spalding
Wed 15th War A home to Royston Fenland KO
 (See fixtures page)

1st October: New season kicks off
Warboys C in a 2-2 draw against Buckden.
Wins by Neil and Marcus

14th September: New Seasons Fixtures
are out. You can view them in the Fixtures page.

10th September: Warboys AGM

03rd September:
Marcus Misson wins Summer Championship
The fourth and possibly most hotly contested Summer Championship was won by me with 65.5 points out of a possible 80. N.Greenwood was second on 65 points, and B.Duff third on 63.5.

Warboys 1st Team win Fenland Plate for 3rd time.
Warboys D-Max and White Capes share 550 trophy
Four draws and exactly equal team grades mean the two teams shar the trophy (odd that, still it makes up for last year's travesty)
14th June Warboys 3.5 - Yorkshire 0.5
Cambridgeshire u160 lost 7-9 against the White Rose county, but wins from Carl, Marcus and Bernard, and a draw from John Houdini made the result a lot closer than it could have been.

Next pub rapidplay: Seven Wives St.Ives Weds 18th June

3rd March
Warboys win the Fenland Plate
In the final we secured a 2-2 draw against St.Neots, winning on board count. (I lost on board 4)

12th November
Board 1 win secures East Grinstead a draw against Hastings 3rd team

 6th November
Dave Bentley does well in Cambs rapidplay
Warboys C win against Peterborough
Warboys B draw against Spalding
Warboys A lose in Fenland KO to our friends from Royston
East Grinstead win by sacrificing their board 1
Bernard still not doing too well.

26th October:
Warboys C get a good result against Yaxley
It probably helped not having to rely on players from Wisbech.
Let's hope the captain recovers soon.

18th October:
Warboys B beat Peterborough B away
A somewhat top-heavy B team scored their first win of the season away at Peterborough on Thursday. I guess the 1st team have to preserve their grading points somehow.

17th October: Win for Warboys A against St.Neots
Bernard draws, captain Carl throws game away.
See Results

16th October: East Grinstead loose at Lewes 3.5-1.5.
New board 2 secures only win.

Peterborough A v Warboys A 4-1
Bernard draws again. Can anything stop him?
And Marcus Connolly doesn't.

8th October, White Cape's unhappy with captain's draw.
Result on fixtures page.

4th October: Good result for Chris Davison as Warboys take a point off Cambridge

3rd October:
Warboys B vs Warboys C 2-2
Bernard draws!

28th September:
Fixtures out - see fixtures page!
Warboys A outstanding result against Royston.
Outstanding in the sense that we needed more points to win.
John Beck drew. I'm saying no more. Results
