Marcelo Suárez del Prado nació en Buenos Aires, Argentina, el 28 de mayo de 1953. Es profesor de Lengua y Literatura, egresado del profesorado Alicia Moreau de Justo. Estudió Dibujo y Pintura en la Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredón y en el IDA (Instituto de Arte Argentino, a cargo del maestro Pablo Pereyra). Además cursó Diseño gráfico en la Escuela Panamericana de Arte. Se desempeñó como redactor e ilustrador en diversos medios editoriales. En 1974 fue Jefe de arte en la Agencia Telam y en 1989 fue colaborador en el suplemento cultural del Diario La Prensa. Desde 1992 hasta el 2001 fue profesor de Lengua y Literatura en los CENS Nros. 24 y 35 de Capital Federal.

Entre sus publicaciones se hallan: Nuevos poetas latinoamericanos, Universidad de Santiago de Chile (1986); El Guardíán de la Rosa Verde (cuento), en "La escalera mágica", 7 grado, Ed. Santillana (1991); El misterio del cuadro sin firma (novela juvenil), Editorial Alfaguara (1997), El misterio del Laberinto Virtual, Editorial Alfaguara (2001) y Chaquetein 1880 o el Frankestein criollo, Editorial Alfaguara (2004) .

En 1985 fue distinguido por la Fundación Givré con Premio de poesía latinoamericana Alfonsina Storni. En 1995 obtuvo una mención especial en el Premio Proyección de la Fundación Cultural del Banco Patricio.

Marcelo Suárez del Prado was born on May 28 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is a Language and Literature Professor, graduated from Alicia Moreau de Justo College and UBA. He studied drawing and painting in the School of Fine Arts Prilidiano Pueyrredón and in IDA (Argentinean Art Institute), with the Master of Arts Pablo Pereyra. He also studied Graphic Design in the Pan-American School of Art.

He worked as an editor and as an illustrator in many publishing companies. In 1974, he was a chief art director of Telam Agency and in 1989 he was a newspaper contributor of the Cultural Supplement of Prensa Newspaper. From 1992 until 2001 he was a Language and Literature professor at CENS (adult’s high schools) 24 and 35, in Buenos Aires.

Among his publications are: New Latin-American Poets, Santiago of Chile University (1986); The Guardian of the Green Rose (tale), in ‘The Magic Ladder’ (school 7th grade), Santillana Editorial (1991), The Mystery of the Unsigned Painting (teenage novel, 1996), The Mystery of the Virtual Labyrinth (2000), Alfaguara Editorial; Language and Literary Theory Encyclopedia, Atlántida Editorial (2000); and Chaquetein 1880 or the Creole Frankenstein, Alfaguara Editorial (2004).

In 1985 he was distinguished by the Givré Foundation with the Poetry Prize Alfonsina Storni. In 1995, he obtained an honorable mention in the Projection Prize of the Cultural Foundation of Patricio Bank.
