Introduction

I am a social scientist, a psychotherapist, and a multi-faith chaplain whose research and publications bridge the existential anthropology of religion with psychiatric anthropology, consciousness studies, and cognitive archaeology.

I have regional expertise with cultures of Europe, North America, Amazonia, and Mesoamerica.

Based on fieldwork and interviews with European and North American members of a new religious movement called Santo Daime, I hold a Ph.D. from Tulane University (New Orleans, USA) and completed a SSHRC Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the Study of Religion department at the University of Toronto (Ontario, Canada).

After earning an M.A. in Theology at Wilfrid Laurier University (Waterloo, Ontario), I am now a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) in Ontario, and a member of the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC/ACSS).

Presently, with approval from Health Canada, I am now collaborating in transdisciplinary research on psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy with the Braxia team.
