Marathon Daffodils is a collaboration of nonprofit organizations, gardeners, cities and towns, organizations, businesses, and citizens interested in preserving the spirit of the Boston Marathon and Boston Strong, while embracing the tradition of celebrating the arrival of Spring to Boston.

and volunteers plan to plant daffodils along the 26.5 mile Boston Marathon
route, to create a new event “Marathon
Daffodils.” Tower Hill Botanic
Garden, The Massachusetts Horticultural Society, New England Wildflower Society,
The Garden Club Federation, The Town of Brookline Parks, The Charles River
Conservancy, the Master Gardeners and other groups have agreed to collaborate.
The goal is to raise $1000 per mile for a total of $26,500 from Hopkinton to
Boston…September 20, 2013 – 100,000 Marathon Daffodils are on their way. The bulbs have been ordered and shipped for planting along the Boston Marathon Route. More help is needed to reach the goal of raising the next $10,000 in the next 30 days.
The Massachusetts Nurserymen and Landscapers Assoc have embraced the project with their plant something campaign. Our Team captains have stepped up to the challenge and have volunteers signed up to plant in the eight communities starting in October. Private homeowners and businesses are encouraged to plant daffodils along the route. Support you local nurseries and purchase bulbs. The Massachusetts Master Gardeners will help with advice for those novice gardeners.
