Edward Jollie - Reminisces 1841-1865

Edward Jollie 1871-1925

Born at Christchurch on the 26th of October, 1871 Edward Jollie Senior's second son was educated at the Wanganui Collegiate School from 1884 to 1888.

A member of the Hawera Mounted Rifles Brigade by 1892, Edward Junior served at Mafeking in the Second Boer War (1899–1902).

Married to a paternal cousin in 1903 Teddy's first wife died in 1907 whilst visiting her family in Sheffield.  Left with a three year-old daughter and two year-old son, his wife's family cared for the children until his sister-in-law brought them back to New Zealand two years later.

Employed by the New Plymouth City Council at the time of his accidental demise, it is through the only son of his second marriage that the senior male line descends to Edward Ormonde Francis Jollie, born in 1970.
