This challenge is part of a Google Map Maker MapUp or Map Maker demo, where the Map Maker Community Team is presenting about the uses of Map Maker, useful tips and tricks about using the product, and demonstrating examples of mapping around the world and in your neighborhood.
How many people can be on my team?
Teams for this challenge can be anywhere between one and four people in a single group.
How do I enter the challenge?
To enter, each participant must sign up using this form. The email address you provide should be the account you use to map in Google Map Maker. It will be used only to tally votes for the event’s mapping challenge to determine a winner and to tabulate total edits created during the Mini-Mapping Challenge.
What are the judging criteria?
The team with the most quality edits submitted during the competition period will win the grand prize.
How does the Google Map Maker Community Team know if edits are good quality?
The Map Maker team will review select edits for quality and ensure that the edits are accurate, and not malicious or contain spam. Any edit that is malicious or contains spam will result in the contributing team being disqualified from winning prizes.
How can I win?
Sign up on the sign-up form, edit the map, submit your edits, and the entrant or team with the most quality edits wins!
When will I know if I win?
Map Maker mini-challenges generally last between 1-2 hours. Winners will be announced shortly after the closing of the entry submission period.
What are the prizes?
Prizes for this challenge will be described at the start of the entry-submission period during the MapUp event. When a team wins, each member of the team will be awarded a prize, unless otherwise specifically stated by the Google Map Maker representative.
When will I get the prize?
Prizes will be given at the event to the winner or winning team.
Do I have to be present to win?
Yes, if you have won, you or another representative of your team must be present at the time of the announcement of the winners to receive a prize.
Can I swap my prize out?
No, but Google *might* have to swap your prize out if they run out of supplies, in the case where they need to do that, they will provide you with a prize of greater or equal value as the prize announced.
Are there any ways to get disqualified?
Submitting edits that contain spam, or that are fictitious, will result in disqualification of an individual or a team at the discretion of the Google Map Maker Community Team member running the MapUp.
