I am Gabe, an 18 year old homeschool student. Welcome to my website about my project to map the Children's Eternal Rainforest (CER or BEN, Bosque Eterno de los Niños) in Monteverde, Costa Rica and how you can support it! This project was launched May 1st, 2013.

I have been raising money for the Children's Eternal Rainforest for over ten years (including through my project Rice Sacks for the Rainforest). For several years, I have wanted to help in a way other than just sending donations.

This year I had the opportunity to do that. In 2012-2013, I studied GIS and cartography at a local university. I spent September, 2013, volunteering at the CER with my family. I made new trail maps (see the maps page); I helped my parents make other literature about the CER and made maps for those as well. See my blog to see more of where I was and what I did.

If you have any questions, you can contact me at RiceSacksRF@gmail.com.

Information about the CER is available from Monteverde Conservation League (MCL) and additional information is at Friends of the Children's Eternal Rainforest.

Thanks to these funders:
I want to thank ESRI for donating the ArcGIS software that I used to make the maps.
I also want to thank Philadelphia Yearly Meeting for helping support my travel costs.
Finally, I want to thank Idea Wild for paying for my GPS.
These donations helped make my project possible.
