mapMDS

MapMDS is an overlay application built on the existing information sources of the WS-MDS (MDS 4.0). It is similar to the WebMDS that provides a web based interface to query the various information providers of the MDS4.0. MapMDS allows users to monitor the various active containers of a grid and query the information providers and receive results on the fly on the map. As the nodes are displayed according to their physical location on a map, it becomes very simple to locate and query ones node of interest. The current version of MapMDS is built using the Google Maps API. Google Maps API is a pluggable javascript that can be utilized by developers to develop applications that feature geographical information like MapMDS.

Future Work

One of the most important additions to be made is to provide the users with the list of services running on a particular node (together with the current info) and to provide the users the ability to register services on a particular node on the map itself without writing a separate web service or executing registration commands on the command line.
