Join the Team

We are always interested to hear from people interested in coaching, leading or lifeguarding for the club.

If you already have an existing coaching, leading or lifeguard qualification then you don't need to be a member to apply to join the coaching team, just read this page and follows the steps outlined below.

If you don't have an existing coaching, leading or lifeguard qualification but are a member of the club then we are usually able to provide financial support to help you gain a suitable qualification in return for an agreed commitment to the coaching team.

To become a coach you will need the following:
  • A recognised coaching qualification at UKCC Level 1 or above
  • Suitable insurance
  • A CRB check
  • For cycling and running coaches you will need a first aid certificate

To become a MTB leader you will need the following:
  • A recognised MTB leader qualification (e.g. SMBLA Trail Cycle Leader)
  • Suitable insurance
  • A CRB check
  • A first aid certificate

To become a Lifeguard you will need the following:
  • Royal Life Saving Society qualification
  • Suitable insurance
  • Commitment to undertake regular training to keep your knowledge upto date

If you have all the requirements listed above, then follow the steps below:
  • Complete the coaching team application form
  • Scan your coaching qualification, CRB check, First Aid Certificate
  • Email the completed application form, supporting documents and a digital photo for use with your profile to: coaching@man-tri-club.org.uk
  • I'll have a look through the information and contact you if any additional info is required.
  • Next you will be asked to deliver 2 sessions under the observation of a member of the coaching team. One from a supplied session plan and one you have planned. You will not be paid for these sessions as they are part of the application process.
  • Following delivery of the 2 sessions you will receive feedback and if successful be added to the coaching team. 
  • Once you are a member of the coaching team you will be offered the opportunity to cover for coaches and apply for regular coaching positions when they become available
