Manoranjan,
Project Scientist
National Center for Flexible Electronics
NCFLexE, IIT Kanpur, INDIA
I am currently a Project Scientist at the National Center for Flexible Electronics (NCFlexE), IIT Kanpur investigating the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Sintering mechanism of AlOx and developing an array of fully inkjet-printed flexible SWCNT TFTs. I am also looking forward to working on the pedagogy of science & holistic education, values-based society, Human Behaviour & Relationship, Philosophy and Psychology of Self, Epistemology and doing some exciting research in the area of consciousness studies as well and trying to solve the enigma of consciousness by integrating vast Indian knowledge with the current understanding of science.
I completed my PhD in the Department of Physics at IIT Kanpur and worked with Prof. Y.N.Mohapatra to understand the physics of Nanoparticles and 2D materials with their transport mechanism printed on flexible substrates. My research interests are to study the electronic properties of Semiconductors - 2D materials & functional inks keeping in view their applications in diodes, solar cells, sensors, and transistors. Beyond academics & science, I give thought to understand consciousness and human beings as an individual, as a part of a family, society & nature and also social changes. In this direction, I have done a detailed study of co-existentialism (Jeevan Vidya) philosophy / Madhyasth Darshan. Apart from this, I have a deep interest in Education (in the broad sense) & the founder of Ek PAHAL - a not-for-profit organisation in Nalanda, Bihar to transform our factory-based to humane-based school education system. I have been following & involved with various organisations and institutes who are working to improve our education system.
Previously, I was carrying out a research project at Samtel Centre for Display Technologies (SCDT) , IIT Kanpur. My research was focused on studying the characteristics of silver nanoparticles on flexible substrates by understanding their transport mechanism.
I did my BS and MS in Physics from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) with various courses ranging from sociology and philosophy to management sciences.
I got nominated for various awards and prizes for my MS project at IIT Kanpur. In my MS Project, I designed and implemented an experimental set up integrated to characterise defects in semiconductors with fully automated low-temperature system. The title of the project was to "Design of a versatile transient spectrometer with electrical and optical excitation to characterize localized states in semiconductors" supervised by Prof.Y.N.Mohapatra, Dept. of Physics, Material Science Program, NCFLexe, SCDT, IIT Kanpur .
I carried out an internship in Max Planck Institute of Nuclear Physics, Heidelberg, Germany supervised by Dr. Matteo Tamburini in Quantum dynamics and Quantum electrodynamics division and at IISc Bangalore in Mesoscopic Physics Group, Department of Physics under the supervision of Dr. Aveek Bid.
