After crossing the Poutawa Stream from the North, walk another 15-20 minutes south. Look for two tall manuka posts with a Te Araroa sign attached  behind which there are two red flags back on the dunes. This will lead you onto a path that takes you to the olive grove where you can put up your tent.  For an extra charge and if available, you can rent a small cabin or caravan.
We also offer a range of quality savoury pies that you can purchase and heat in the oven in the outdoor kitchen. For an extra cost you can use the gas-heated outdoor double bath if it is available.

There are no shops in Pakiri. The next section of the trail is steep up-and-down and is quite hard going.

Matt's place along 107 Govan Wilson Road ( Mobile : 0212057404 )is a comfortable distance for a 1 day walk from Pakiri.
Camping $20.  You'll get a free drink, and a hot shower and if the weather is bad you can use the barn.
It comes out on State Highway One at the 'Top of the Dome' Cafe where you can get substantial cafe-style ( including gluten free/vegetarian and vegan options ) food / drinks but remember their kitchen closes at 4.30 p.m. but is open from 7 a.m. til 5 p.m.
You can call them on 09425 7794.

Puhoi General Store is open til 7 p.m. every day.
