9/30/12 From Mae Duncan
I just read profile #3 on the MTHS website and have some additional info re. Emigsville School to which, as a former student, I can personally attest.
By the 1951-52 school year, there were only 6 grades taught in the school. Grades 1-2 stayed in the the first classroom, taught by Ellen Drawbaugh, grades 3-4 were in the second room taught by Mrs. Edna? Yeager (I'm not sure of her first name), and grades 5-6 were in the third room, taught by Charles Drawbaugh. By the 1954-55 school year, the 6th grade was moved to Roundtown and I think all other classes were bussed to either Hayshire (if it existed) or Lightner # 2. Chuck can actually fill in that info as his younger brothers would have been affected.
By 1955-56, all township students in grades 7-8 were being taught in the old section of the original Central High School, formerly North York High School, and referred to as Central Junior High School.
