What are archives and repositories?

Archives and repositories are online storage sites. 

They provide long-term storage, management, and preservation of your digital files. Additionally, they may offer functionalities for searching, downloading, and using this data. 

Archives and repositories can be evaluated by:
  • how they facilitate discovery
  • how they preserve and maintain data
  • how they provide user access, and 
  • whether the organization who supports the repository will exist for the long term
