Tractor Trot 5k

Join us on Saturday, June 9th to celebrate our community's farming heritage by walking or running the Tractor Trot 5k, then stick around the Park City Community Festival and Antique Tractor show for some food and fun.  Breakfast and lunch will be available at the Lion's Club (less than 100 yards from the finish line).  Take time to see the historic ruins of Bell's Tavern.  Other events Saturday include a peddle push tractor contest fro kids 3 to 5 years old and antique tractor show that morning, with live music and fireworks that night.  

The race course is a rolling, rural out-and-back course that starts in Park City, KY and goes out J. Brown Road.  See the race flier for registration information and age group divisions.  Register by May 29th for $20 and a guaranteed t-shirt.  Registrations after that date and day of race registrants will receive t-shirts on a first come, first serve basis and the price will increase to $25.   The registration form can be dowloaded below.

Proposed By-Law Revisions

Our quarterly council meeting will be held Monday, May 21st at 2 p.m. in the BRADD conference room, following the monthly BRADD meeting.  Invitations, both mail and e-mail will be sent out over the next few days.  Please review the proposed bylaw changes, as they need to be voted on at this meeting!  They can be found at the bottom of this post.  Also, the draft agenda, proxy forms, and minutes from the January quarterly meeting and the February special meeting will be available on this website soon.  If you cannot attend, proxy voting is encouraged!

Late Registration and Packet Pick-Up!

Yes, we will have late registration!  We will be accepting late registrations at Park Mammoth, Friday, March 2nd, from 5 to 7 p.m.  While we will also be accepting registrations the morning of the race, we recommend that anyone wishing to register arrive by 7 a.m.  If you did not register by February 24th, we may not have an shirt ready for you on race day-but do not fret!  We will get you a shirt as soon as more come in!

As for packet pick-up, TRAXrunning in Bowling Green will have the packets from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Friday, March 2nd, and there will be packet pick-up from 5 to 7 p.m. at Park Mammoth Friday night.  While we will have some packet pick-up the morning of the race, we strongly encourage participants to get their packet at either TRAXrunning or Park Mammoth on Friday.  If you plan to pick up your packet on Saturday, please arrive by 7 a.m. to ensure that we can accommodate everyone before the event starts!  

If you have any questions or concerns, please call 270-646-8993.  If you want to go ahead and have a registration form filled out, use the one below.  Happy runnings and see you Saturday!  (Or better yet, Friday and Saturday!)

Don't forget to be excited about tasting some great cheese from Kenny's Farmhouse Cheese, who will be letting use taste some great cheese after the race!

MCRCD is very excited to be receiving assistance from TRAXRunning Saturday morning for a group run to finalize the 5k and 10k courses.  The proposed routes are accessible on connect.garmin.com, as below:

As you may have noticed, they have been revised a little bit to make a more scenic and enjoyable running experience.  If you want the different file format, send me an e-mail and we'll see if we have it.   (We definitely have gpx formats!)  

For those of you coming out, be ready to rough it a little-the course hasn't been prepped for the race yet.  So, watch your footing!  Also, due to the terrain, we won't be having pets run with us Saturday.  Please e-mail me with any questions at myrisamcrcd@gmail.com.  

Special Council Meeting Feb. 6th

First, I wanted to thank everyone who attended this past Wednesday's meeting, and I hope to see you all at our upcoming meeting 1 p.m. Monday, February 6th at BRADD.  MCRCD depends on your participation to know what is important to your community and to vote on important matters before the council.  That said, we did not have a quorum so that we could vote on any matters before the council.  Two important amendments to the by-laws have been proposed.  

  • The first is to amend the by-laws and the Articles of Incorporation to change the principal location to our current address in Park City.  This is simply an update.

  • The second proposed amendment to the by-laws is to make a 10 member Executive Committee that can act on behalf of the full Board of Directors.  Currently, our by-laws require 60% of our nearly 30 member Board of Directors be present to have a quorum and a legal vote on any council decision.  By giving power to an executive committee, it would enable our council to more readily address issues without being paralyzed by possible poor meeting attendance.    The ten member Executive Committee will consist of one individual from each of our ten counties, who is nominated to the Executive Committee by board members from that county.  Establishing the Executive Committee is an important step toward the simplification of our operations.  

If you cannot attend, you are strongly encouraged to vote via proxy.  Please find below at proxy form that needs to be filled out BY HAND and returned to MCRCD prior to the meeting.  You may mail, scan it and e-mail it, fax it, or send it via your designee that will attend the meeting.  Minutes from Wednesday's meeting and a formal agenda for the February 6th meeting will be posted on this website.

For the first time in Mammoth Cave RC & D's history, we have a website!  A sincere thanks goes out to everyone that helped make this a reality by devoting time, providing photos, editing content, and writing blurbs.  Finally, MCRCD has joined the 21st century.  At the same time, I ask for your understanding as upgrades and updates are made to the website.  It is our hope that this will help get our message out and let people know what we are doing in our community, as well as make it easy to let us know about perspective projects and great projects that others are doing.  We welcome input from all community members and anyone who would like to continue our development of this webpage project is sincerely invited to contact me! myrisamcrcd@gmail.com
