In this lab we investigated what factors affect a mathematical pendulum. We were able to determine that only the local gravitational field constant and the length of the pendulum have any affect when the amplitude is under 20 degrees. I also learned a lot about data analysis and linearization as we had to fit various curves to find a trend, and then linearize our data to make sure our trends were correct. In this activity I had to look at a problem and determine what factors affected a certain variable. Once different factors were chosen, I had to develop seperate procedures to test each factor while holding the other ones constant. Once all the data was collected and analyzed, I was able to combine all the relationships into one equation describing the relationship between all the factors and period of the pendulum.
