A beautiful sunny day at Lake Lenape set the scene for some great racing at the 7th annual Shoebie Cup. A record crowd, estimated to be near 1,000 friends and relatives, watched the crews battle each other and the wind.
Reports from races held along the east coast had course records being smashed as the crews were pushed by 20 mile per hour sustained winds. Lake Lenape didn't escape the conditions as officials frequently double checked their results times. A special shout out goes to Bruce, our starting official, who had the unenviable task of directing the crews to the stake boats and instructing them how to keep their points down course.
The racing on the water wasn't the only competition, as the spectators got to sample and vote for the eight entries of the 2nd annual Shoebie Cup Chili Cook Off.
