Description: Sanghas meet weekly for meditation and to watch a recorded teaching of Anam Thubten, a non-sectarian Tibetan teacher who received early training in the Nyingma tradition and later, with a Master Yogi, Lama Turlo in Tibet. His teachings are for everyone regardless of religion, spiritual orientation or meditation experience. Anam Thubten visits Maine annually for a 5-Day Retreat and for special gatherings, via skype. River Sangha  meets at a home in Belfast on Sunday from 8am to 9:30am. There are representatives of most all avenues of Buddhism, and that is reflected in their gatherings and book study group, which happens on Tuesday evenings at 6. Description:  Our resident teacher is Diane Shoshin Fitzgerald, Sensei, a Soto Zen priest and Guiding Teacher of the Boundless Way Zen school.  She is a member of the Soto Zen Buddhist Association and the American Zen Teachers Association.  Our practice leader is Leslie Kanshin Gajdukow, Dharma Teacher.  Our schedule includes weekly sittings, Dogen classes, day-long and multi-day retreats and ongoing activities in support of our EcoSattva vow to care for the earth and all beings.

Description: Hosted by Nancy Hathaway, the evening includes tea, chanting, sitting meditation, and walking meditation through the Zendo's moss garden, a dharma talk and discussion. • Mindfulness Meditation Circle

Description: Our meditation circle on Wednesday nights is open to everyone. No prior experience is necessary.  It's a wonderful opportunity to sit together as a community. We typically meditate for approximately 45 minutes with a sequence of sitting meditation, walking meditation, and then sitting meditation.  At the end, there is a brief (10-minute) discussion about meditation, mindfulness, and cultivating a regular home practice.  If you are new to meditation, arrive around 6:45 and someone will provide a brief orientation.

This group meets on Tuesday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:15 at the First Universalist Church at 97 Main Street in Yarmouth. The group sits in silence for 30 minutes, practices walking meditation for 15 minutes, then sits again for 15 minutes. A reading and discussion conclude the evening. All are welcome.
