Ship the Chip - a STEM activity in Mrs. Gurnee's room

Can the Chip Survive?

On Friday, December 12, Bailey Auspland and Lynn Farrin came to Mrs. Gurnee's sixth grade science classes to oversee a STEM activity called "Ship the Chip."  The students were required to design a light, small and sturdy package that would survive a crazy mailing experience.  Many students were disappointed to see that their chip was shattered.  But a team of STEM scientists, Hailey G., Lucy H. and Kate V. were victorious to see that their chip was fully intact.  Their package weighed only 15.5 grams.  They each won a Jolly Rancher!
