Dear Families –
My name is Jennifer Hobbs, I am the speech language pathologist at Mahoney Middle School, I look forward to working with your family this year! I am a graduate of The University of New Hampshire with an M.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders. My first degree and experience was in the field of education where I developed an interest for the importance of language and communication. I have had various experiences in the field of speech pathology from infant to geriatric populations and enjoy helping students reach their goals. I look forward to combining my experience as an educator with my passion for speech and communication!
I have lived in South Portland for 17 years (minus a 2 year stint in Hoosier country – Indiana.) My husband and I have 3 children and a spunky golden retriever named Bear. Your children will likely hear stories.... In my free time I enjoy watching my children’s various activities around town and enjoy the Maine outdoors in all seasons! Professionally, I have an interest in using literacy as a tool for speech and language development.
In the speech room we will work hard toward accomplishing our speech and language goals with fun and engaging activities. Students will have opportunities to reflect on their progress and effort! I hope to add information about the field of speech pathology in the form of a newsletter and via Mahoney’s website as the year progresses.
If you have any questions throughout the school year, please do not hesitate to contact me. I can be reached by email at email@example.com and by phone at 799-7386.
