Condos For Sale In MA Should Have A Condo Inspection

A Standard Home Inspection in Massachusetts is performed to the MA Home Inspector Standards of Practice. Home buyers should receive a brochure, Home Inspectors Facts for Consumers Sheet, from the seller or seller's agent. The best home inspectors in MA perform inspections to the MA Home Inspector Standards of Practice. Excellent inspectors exceed the standard. Ask your inspector if/how they exceed the standard (minimum).

Massachusetts Home Inspection Report

The MA Board of Registration of Home Inspectors recommends the buyer be present for the inspection.

This allows the buyer to:

  • Observe the inspector

  • Ask the inspector questions directly

  • Obtain a better understanding of the condition of the home

  • Learn how the systems of the home work, and how to maintain those systems

The written report may be easier to understand if the buyer was present during the inspection.

At the conclusion of the home inspection, the buyer should:

  • Be well informed of the condition of the home

  • Know if there are visible, apparent problems

  • Know if repairs are required

  • Know whether or not there are any risks of concealed damage

  • Know whether further investigation is recommended or required

Massachusetts has 14 Counties, 39 cities, and 312 towns. Visit the links below to find a Massachusetts Home Inspector.

Other Inspections and Tests to Consider

The MA Board of Registration of Home Inspectors strongly recommends that potential buyers consider having the following inspections and/or tests performed prior to signing the final purchase agreement:

  • Water quality ( is it drinkable)

  • Wood destroying insects, including termites.

  • Air quality, including radon gases.

  • Fungi, mold and allergens.

While some home inspectors are qualified to offer these services, these inspections and tests are not part of the basic home inspection and should be contracted through qualified licensed professionals (of your choice and hire) in those fields.
