Premio CIP 2017
Interviewing Fabián Escalante

Martin Roberts
2017 winner, Club Internacional de Prensa prize for best foreign correspondent in Spain.
I am a highly experienced foreign correspondent and translator based in Madrid who writes on topics ranging from Spain’s economic crisis to plane crashes, from Champions League matches to energy policy, and from tense regional politics to literary festivals. Lately I have freelanced for all five UK broadsheets and previously worked for Reuters for 16 years in seven countries.

Also, I report for TV and radio stations all over the world, in both English and Spanish.
On the left you can see me receiving my prestigious CIP prize from Spain's Culture Minister (top), interviewing Cuban former chief spycatcher Fabián Escalante (middle, facing camera) and reporting from a former nuclear plant (bottom).
