AIDS ACTION 2007

Express, Connect, Prevent, Advocate

In recognition of World AIDS Day 2007

DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE CONNECT:FAITH FORUM FOR TODAY, DECEMBER 1ST,  AT OLBRICH GARDENS HAS BEEN CANCELLED.  THANKS TO ALL THAT WERE INTENDING ON PARTICIPATING.  IF WE CAN RESCHEDULE THIS EVENT WE WILL POST IT HERE IN THE NEAR FUTURE

World AIDS Day, observed globally on December 1, is an opportunity to challenge ignorance about the HIV/AIDS pandemic, rededicate to the fight against it, and remember those who lost their lives in it. Madison will play host to World AIDS Day by inviting our community to gather together to educate about the epidemic we know as HIV and to enlighten our peers in regards to it's social, political and human impact.

  • FACT: AIDS has killed more than 25 milion people.  An estimated 40 million people (approximately the entire population of the state of California) - 90% in the developing world - are living with HIV/AIDS
  • FACT: Every day 14,000 adults become newly infected with HIV.  Half of them are women.  The infection rate continues to climb, on every continent.
  • FACT: The means to prevent HIV infection and treatment to prevent AIDS exist, but remain unavailable to most people in the world who need them.
  • FACT: All over the world, HIV/AIDS thrives at the crossroads of poverty, gender inequality and social exclusion.

Below is a list of public events in observance of World AIDS Day, sponsored by local organizations committed to the fight against HIV/AIDS.
