Welcome to Madison Township!

Madison Township was founded in 1802 and is one of the eighteen townships of Columbiana County, Ohio.

While still retaining its original territory of six miles square, Madison Township is the largest of the seven southern townships within Columbiana County.

Drive through our 54 miles of township maintained roadways and see what Madison Township has to offer.  Madison Township is know for its diversified terrain and can proudly claim Round Knob as the highest point in Columbiana County and the fourth highest in Ohio, being 1,447 feet above sea level.

If you don't feel like driving, you are more than welcome to fly in as Columbiana County Airport is conveniently located within Madison Township.

International air travel can also be easily accessed  from Madison Township as Pittsburgh International Airport is located less than one hour away with Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and the Akron/Canton Airport being within one and a half hours away.

Madison Township is an excellent choice for new economic development as it offers a convenient location in Eastern Ohio, that is part of a Tri-State area, including  Pennsylvania and West Virginia.  Madison Township can be accessed by a number of State Highways that intersect the region. While two convenient exit ramps off of State Route 11 are within Madison Township limits, the Ohio Turnpike is only a short distance away as well.  Madison Township offers an available work force, low cost of living, small town Quality of Life, abundant and economical energy resources, and many other advantages that are within your reach throughout Madison Township and Columbiana County.

Township families are served by five excellent educational systems located within its limits - Beaver Local School District, East Liverpool School District, Lisbon School District, Southern Local School District and Wellsville School District.  For higher education, within a short drive outside of the township, there are several branch campuses of major colleges and universities within or close to Columbiana County itself, along with a number of business and technical Schools.

There are several local churches within Madison Township that residents as well as visitors are welcomed to attend.

While the west fork of Beaver Creek flows throughout the township in a course from the western line to the northeast corner, a portion of  Beaver Creek State Park is located right within Madison Township boundaries in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Beaver Creek State Park offers a wild life education center, approximately sixteen miles of hiking trails which take visitors to historic canal locks and through a steep walled gorge, 23 miles of horseback riding trails and it even offers sites for camping. 

Located in Madison Township, Hellbender Bluff Park contains 752 acres of public hunting grounds, a 3.5 mile trail that loops through the park for hiking and a  Pump Track bicycle track.  Hellbender Bluff park also offers a pavalion for public use. 


Madison Township is governed by a Board of Trustees and financial matters are organized by the Township's Fiscal Officer
