In March 2010, Madison County, the City of Berea, and the City of Richmond became the 1 st designated International Safe Community in Kentucky and the 7 th in the United States.

Our Beliefs:
- We recognize that preventable injuries of all types are a Public Health issue.
- We recognize that no one entity or institution has the ability or resources to be the sole advocate for injury prevention.
- We believe that the Community as a whole is better able to address injury prevention issues.
- We believe that by increasing the awareness of partner activities, we can support each other and reduce duplication, making all our efforts more effective.
