Moving West/South

After the Revolutionary War,  many Americans from the new colonies moved westward after having been granted LAND in near western states in payment for their service to the Revolution and the new government after the British were defeated in the late 1700's.

They became American's early 1800's settlers tasked with clearing pioneer land, building towns and governments, and yes... pushing away native Indians who were hunters & gatherers, there FIRST, away from their Settler  growing civilizations.
