Top 10 Worst Draft Picks

Home

Over the course of professional sports some stupid draft picks have been made. Some picks looked good at the time and then didn't pan out, while others made you scratch your head from the time the person was drafted, to the time they retired. Here are the top 10 worst draft picks of all time.

Number 10

Sam Bowie (2nd Overall Pick in the 1984 NBA Draft by Portland)

Jordan.Sam Bowie will always been known as the man who was taken before Michael Jordan. While his final stats aren't horrible 10.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.78 blocks....they are nothing like Michael Jordan.

Number 9

Akili Smith (3rd Overall in the 1999 NFL Draft by the Bengals)

Number 8

Kwame Brown (1st overall in the 2001 NBA Draft by the Wizards)

Brown was the 1st high school player to be taken 1st overall. Bad play and off the court issues such as a rape conviction in 2006 makes Brown a bust.

Number 7

Robert "Tractor" Traylor (6th overall in the 1998 NBA Draft by the Mav's)

Traylor not only has career averages of 5.5 points per game, but he was also traded for Dirk Nowitzki on draft day. Maybe the following dunk had something to do with his selection.

Number 6

Michael Olowokandi (1st overall in the 1998 NBA Draft by the Clippers)

The "Kandi Man" was taken over many stars such as Vince Carter, Paul Pierce, Dirk, and Mike Bibby. He averages 9 points a game and 7 rebounds.

Number 5

Tim Couch (1st overall in the 1999 NFL Draft)

Couch after being a Hiesman Trophy finalist had only 1 good year in the NFL in 2001 in which he threw for 3,000 yards. Other then that Couch has been injured almost every season and recent reports have named Couch as a player who took HGH and other steroids.

Number 4

Shawn Bradley (2nd overall in the 1993 NBA Draft by the 76ers)

Shawn Bradley the 7 foot 6 center did average 3 blocks a game over his career however his 8 points per game average is not good.

Number 3

Ki-Jana Carter(1st overall in the 1995 NFL Draft by the Bengals)

Ki-Jana Carter like Akili Smith is another bust drafted by the Bengals. Carter only gained 1,100 yards rushing in 10 NFL seasons.

Number 2

Ryan Leaf (2nd overall in the 1998 NFL Draft by the Chargers)

In this draft the big question was who to take, Peyton Manning or Ryan Leaf. Good thing for the Colts they made the right choice, however the chargers got one of the worst quarterbacks of all time. Leaf has an all time QB rating of 50.0 and was known to snap at reporters in the locker room.

Number 1

Darko Milicic (2nd overall in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Pistons)

Ahh Darko, taken 2nd overall in what was possibly the deepest NBA draft ever. Darko was taken over Carmelo Anthony, Dwanye Wade, Chris Bosh, Josh Howard, and many other good players. Darko has averaged 6 points and 6 boards over his career.
