Tim Johnson, DO - Clinic Chief

Class of 2019

Hi y'all. I am a southern boy experiencing cold for the first time here in Michigan. I grew up in Memphis and Atlanta. I attended University of Georgia for one year then transferred to University of Texas at Dallas in Richardson, Texas where I graduated in 2001 with a B.S. in Neuroscience. I moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 2004 where I worked as an Information Technology Project Manager. It was in Phoenix where I met my amazing wife who encouraged me to follow my dreams and attend Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona where I earned my D.O. degree.

I've always had a desire to deliver babies and when I did my surgical rotation, I realized how much I liked being in the operating room as well. Becoming an Ob/Gyn allows me to have the continuity of care I desire with my patients while delivering babies and being a surgeon.

My wife and I have three children: Campbell, Prescott and Max. We desire to be missionaries abroad and help women who either go without care or must travel very far to receive care. In my spare time I like spending time with my family, cooking, and cheering for my Georgia Bulldogs.

Bryna Peplinski, DO - Administrative Chief

Class of 2019

I am a born and raised Wisconsinite. I played soccer at Winona State University (Winona, MN) and received a B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology with minors in Psychology and Biochemistry. I then attended KCUMB for medical school, where I also studied bioethics. I knew early on that I wanted to become an Ob/Gyn, as it perfectly combines surgery with clinical continuity of care. I am so excited to continue my journey towards this goal at St. John Macomb!

My loves (in no particular order) include the Green Bay Packers, my dog (Jordy), and playing soccer. I also enjoy cooking and trying new restaurants.

Class of 2019

I'm a beach girl from the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore County with two degrees: biology and psychology. I subsequently worked for a year as a substitute teacher with a focus on special education before starting medical school at VCOM-Virginia Campus. While in school, I was fortunate to participate in international medicine including trips to Honduras, El Salvador, and the Dominican Republic. I moved to Alabama for my clinical rotations and fell in love with the South and all that the specialty of OB/GYN has to offer.

I enjoy kayaking, playing ultimate frisbee and volleyball. I love to travel but am equally happy sitting on the couch with my crazy dog Granger.

I then completed medical school at Kansas City University. I am recently married and enjoying life as a newlywed. We have an American Bulldog named Ari. My hobbies are traveling, baking, and space walks with my dog. My favorite TV shows include Below Deck and anything on HBO.

Kamila Malinowska, DO

Class of 2020

I was born in Warsaw, Poland and grew up in New York City. I went to the University of Scranton, in Scranton, PA (if anyone is a fan of The Office...) and earned by undergraduate degree in Neuroscience. I also started my graduate degree in Clinical Chemistry. During this time, I decided I wanted to pursue a career in medicine and moved to Pikeville, KY to earn my degree in osteopathic medicine at Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Aside from my academic interests, I am a former competitive figure skater. I skated for the Skating Club of New York and competed regionally in NY, NJ, and PA. Alongside medicine, skating is one of my greatest passions! I love hiking, ballet, painting, crocheting, and traveling in my spare time. I have traveled across Europe and Asia, and have plans to see more of the world! I am very passionate about OB/Gyn and am excited to be a resident at St. John Macomb. My better half and I couples matched, moved into our new home and are ecstatic to begin our lives together with our Corgi puppy Dasia!

Katie McDonald, DO

Class of 2020

I was born in Chicago and grew up in Western Michigan, near the shores of Lake Michigan. I attended the University of Notre Dame (Go Irish!) then spent a year volunteering in Philadelphia with a group of nuns. Medical school took me out to Kirksville, Missouri with subsequent travel back to the east coast for my clinical rotations in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I'm thrilled to be home in "The Mitten" and a part of the incredible team of Ob/Gyn residents at St. John Macomb! I try to stay active by running and have finished several marathons and triathlons. When I'm not training or studying, you'll find me in the kitchen cooking up healthy-ish recipes, reading from an ever-growing book list, and attempting to keep my piano skills and golf swing from deteriorating. I love exploring the Metro Detroit area and spending time Up North with family and friends.

Anjum Bokhari, DO

Class of 2021

I'm a West Coast girl, originally from sunny Souther California where I attended UCLA. After working as an ER scribe during undergrad, I decided to pursue a career in medicine, moving to Tennessee for school where I met my now husband. I've always been interested in Ob/Gyn and medical school really made me realize how much I loved what the specialty had to offer. I am passionate about women's health and I love the amount of variety and continuity of care in Ob/Gyn. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and traveling/exploring new places (usually in search of good food).

Emily Broomell, DO

Class of 2021

This small town girl from East Petersburg, Pennsylvania always loves a good adventure! I graduated from Washington College in Chesterton, Maryland, majoring in Biology. While there, I did everything from playing Division III Field Hockey to studying abroad in Cork, Ireland. I graduated from the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine with the wonderful Class of 2017. Working as an Ob/Gyn was truly a perfect fit for me. I love fixing things in the OR, I have a passion for listening to and educating my patients as well as providing OMT, and it is an honor to help bring new life into this world. When I am not in the hospital, you can find me out on a run, baking cupcakes, snuggled up with a good book or going on another adventure with my new puppy Macey!

I then moved to Kirksville, Missouri where I graduated from A.T. Still University. Aside from my love of obstetrics and gynecology, I enjoy golfing, hiking, exercising, cooking, playing with our puppy, and spending time with friends and family.

Class of 2022

Hey there! I’m a Missouri girl from a small town south of St. Louis. My rural roots have given me a love for all things outdoors: hiking, kayaking, mountain name it and I’m down for the adventure! I completed my undergraduate education at Missouri University of Science & Technology and went on to medical school in the mountains at the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine. During my third year rotations, I fell in love with women’s health and how the field of obstetrics and gynecology combines the worlds of surgery and medicine. I am so excited to be joining the St John Macomb family!

Andrea Hartford, DO

Class of 2022

Hi everybody! Another West Coast kid here. I grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest in Seattle, WA. After high school, I felt a pull to explore the East Coast and landed in MA at Mount Holyoke College for undergrad, where I studied neurosicence and behavior. I wasn't quite ready to launch into medical school at that point so over the next several years, I developed valuable clinical skills working as an EMT, sleep medicine technician, and assistant to orthopedic surgeons in NYC. Ultimately, I knew I was called to become a women's health physician and I am excited and grateful to start my Michigan adventure training at Ascension! When I'm not in the hospital, you can find me near the water, sketching on a park bench, or just playing guitar on the couch.
