I am professor of International Trade and Development at the Erasmus School of Economics, and a research fellow of the Tinbergen Institute, the Centre for Economic Policy Research in London, and CESifo in Munich. 

My research aims to provide a better understanding of the role of geography and trade in shaping regional and urban economic development patterns. 

My main research interests are: urban/regional economics, applied econometrics, trade and economic development, and urban history
